How are the prostheses placed? Which prosthesis is more suitable for you?
Prostheses can be placed by entering your underbust fold, nipple line, or armpit. Some breast forms require some access methods and there may be no other option for the patient. The patient needs a very loose breast tissue filling for a breast prosthesis. As a result, the patient’s breast structure actually determines the size of the prosthesis, the shape of the prosthesis to be placed and the area where it should be placed.
Which shape and size prostheses are used?
The prostheses used should be selected in a shape and size that corresponds to your body structure. Variables such as the current condition of your breast tissue, the thickness of the breast tissue, the shape of your chest and the use of implants in a circular or anatomical (drop) shape depends on our decision whether it is under the muscle (subfacial, dual plan) or under to place the breast tissue. Active sport is an important reason for changing the prosthetic plan. Do not forget that your doctor will make the healthiest decision with this choice, taking your wishes into account. Information from the Internet or what you’ve heard from friends who have made it before can never be helpful for you to make decisions. Every patient is different and different implant selection and surgical plans are required.
Are breast forms reliable?
Our clinic uses prosthesis brands that have proven to be reliable worldwide. Not only are they structurally reliable, they also create a more natural feeling of breast tissue. Before the operation, you will be informed which brand prosthesis will be used and you will receive a card stating which brand, shape and size prosthesis is available. Today it has been scientifically proven that these prostheses do not represent a barrier to breastfeeding and do not pose a cancer risk. There is also no need to have it removed after a period of time. The prostheses do not need to be removed for life unless problems arise.
What needs to be considered before and after the operation?
Before the operation, your preparations, including blood tests, breast tests, X-rays of the heart and chest, are carried out and evaluated by the anesthetist. The operation takes about 2 hours. You will be dressed and released home with special underwear that you would have to wear for about 4 weeks on the day of surgery or the next morning. You can go back to your everyday life, but you should stay away from strenuous exercises for a month and avoid raising your arms too high or forcing yourself to do certain movements. Breast augmentation surgery is surgery that can cause a feeling of tension and pain due to external implant placement. However, as you think, there is no pain that cannot be relieved with pain relievers. Operations with submuscular localization can be particularly painful. Your sutures will not be removed as we use subcutaneous sutures that will fuse on their own after surgery. A check is therefore not necessary until one month after the first week.
